This is my 2nd TED Talk video reflection. The video that I watched for this was called How The Worst Moments In Our Lives Make Us Who We Are by Andrew Solomon. This video was very powerful because Andrew Solomon has had a rough childhood and he explains that in this Talk. He also tells us about the different people that he has interviewed powerful stories and how it has made them who they are.
This TED Talk did change the way i think about things because it made me think about bad things in my life that have made me who I am as a person. One bad thing that has happened in my life and changed me is having my 3 year old cousin pass away of brain cancer. This tragedy has changed the way that me and my whole family think. We definitely put things in to prospective a lot more now.
I agree with what Andrew Solomon says in this video. From the day you are born you are put through many obstacles. Some are good while others are bad. The good things that happen to you do impact your life a lot, but the bad ones do too. I agree that the worst moments in your life make you who you are.
My favorite part of this video was when he shared the good things that have come out of peoples bad moments. He told stories about some of the people that have had extremely bad things happen to them and how somehow something good came out of it and it made them who they are. My least favorite part was when he told the stories from his childhood because it was very depressing and it made me feel bad for him.
This video definitely did influence my answer to the question "what matters to me" because it was a very powerful video and it made me think of any of the bad things that I have been through and how it made me who I am today. I would recommend this video to a lot of people because it is powerful to anyone that is going through a hard time and even if your just having a bad day i think watching this will help you put things in prospective.
